1. Special Thanksgiving Edition!
Hello weekly E-zine family.
I'm sure, like many of you; Thanksgiving has fast become
one of my favorite holidays. Hardly an issue of our weekly
E-zine has gone out that I haven't reminded myself, along
with our readers, the powerful importance of attitude,
gratefulness, history and tradition, giving and spending
time with close friends and family. This week I'd like to
share the "stage" with a few of our weekly readers who have
some powerful words to share on the above subjects. I
thought it would be very fitting to share them with you this
special Thanksgiving week. Enjoy!
To Your Success, Jim Rohn
Live with an Attitude of Gratitude by Glen Hopkins
Imagine for a moment one of those nights when you just
can't fall asleep and you have to get up early the next
morning for a very important meeting at which you are the
keynote speaker. Your alarm clock goes off early in the
morning waking you from what little sleep you had. You
stumble out of bed, have a quick shower, grab a coffee and
some toast, and off you go to fight the traffic on the way
to work.
Does that sound like the start of a terrible day? Most
would answer 'yes'. Few people however, would answer, 'no'.
These are the people, who are in my opinion, blessed with a
gift. A gift which determines how they view their life.
These people live with 'an attitude of gratitude'. For them,
the situation described could be worse. Much worse. For
example, think of the man who doesn't have a bed, let alone
a roof over his head. When he is awoken from what little
sleep he is able to get, it is by the rain falling on his
cold body. He too stumbles to his feet and begins his
journey to work in his bare feet. His work is in the field
of survival. He searches though garbage cans for scraps of
half-rotten food to eat and odd bits of clothes to keep him
warm.
The purpose of this example is to illustrate that we all
have so much to be grateful for. Even in times when it seems
that nothing could be worse, there is always a reason to be
grateful. And when you feel a sense of gratitude, you feel a
sense of happiness and content. My challenge to you today is
to learn to look for the good in every situation and live
with 'an attitude of gratitude'.
I assure you, if you were the fellow searching for food
in garbage cans you too could find things to be grateful
for. You just have to look hard enough and 'open your eyes'
to what is around you. You have to focus on what's good in
your life, not what's bad.
"I once was distraught because I had no shoes, until I
met a man who had no feet." - Unknown
Life works in mysterious ways. Time and time again there
have been stories of people who are in dire straits yet they
are found helping others who are experiencing greater
turmoil. This is because once you have helped someone in
greater need than yourself, you always feel better. You feel
better because you have helped another human being, and this
forces you to change your mindset from focusing on your
problems to focusing on their solutions. Always focus on the
solution, not the problem and live with an attitude of
gratitude! Mother Teresa was a primary example of this
phenomenon. Her entire life revolved around helping others
in need. As a result she experienced a great deal of love
and self-satisfaction in her life.
I challenge you now to take a moment to think of five
things in your life that you are grateful for today. For
example, your friends, your family, your job, your sense of
smell, touch, sight, sound and your computer. Imagine what
your life would be like without these things. Write them
down on a piece of paper and really think about the things
you are grateful for. You will be amazed at how great you
will feel!

Your Presence is a Present to the World by Josh Hinds
Now that I have gotten your attention with the above
statement I want you to take a second to really let it soak
in. How does it make you feel to hear it? I am certain that
if I asked everyone reading this newsletter I would likely
get a number of different answers. Ironically it's the fact
that I would get so many different answers that illustrates
how the above statement holds true!
You see, each of us is our own person. We each have had
life shape us in different ways. We've experienced different
things that all go into making us who we are as human
beings. However, no matter what has happened to us in our
lives we need to keep telling ourselves that we do in fact
make the world a better place because of our being! You may
not believe me, but I assure you this is fact! If you don't
believe me think for a second about how things would be
different without you taking part in them. Would the big
sale have been made if you hadn't been there to participate?
Who would have taken your kids to the ball park or pick them
up from school? What about your loved ones? You see my
friend; we all play a big part in the lives of others. I
hope that you'll take a second to ponder all the wonderful
differences you make in the lives of those around you, just
by being you!

My Favorite Holiday of the Year - Thanksgiving! by Darren
Hardy
We are about to arrive at my favorite holiday of the year
- Thanksgiving! For me, it's a season filled with food,
friends, family and gift-giving of the highest kind -- the
giving of gratitude and appreciation.
Every night of the year I give gratitude for the
blessings in my life. But for the occasion of this
designated day, I ponder deeply and take inventory of all
that I have to be thankful for in my life. And the pondering
prompts me to acknowledge the people who have contributed to
my life's fulfillment the most.
This year I sent cards filled with a little Florida
sunshine in them (not orange juice). :) I put some sand,
palm and sea shells from the beach, in front of my place, in
each card and explained to each of them what they meant to
me and how they have impacted my life.
I have a good question for you...
Who has helped shape your life over the last few years,
in any way? Which teachers, mentors, speakers/authors,
parents, children (!), friends, religious leaders, etc.?
Who has been a help to you; whom have you relied on? How
about administrative staff, business associates, suppliers,
employer/employees, co-workers, neighbors, etc.
Who has added a little joy in your life? Who makes your
life easier, more convenient, more joyful or enjoyable? A
nephew/niece, neighborhood kid, bellman, newspaper carrier,
yeah -- even the perky girl who serves you your Starbuck's
fix in the morning?
Whose absence, if they weren't in your life tomorrow,
would disrupt the peace or flow in your life? (Sound like
the Starbuck's gal again?) What about your dry cleaner, your
CPA, your banker, hairdresser, dentist ... yeah, maybe even
your lawyer! :)
This doesn't have to be a long gushy oration. Just go to
the individual and say, "In honor of Thanksgiving, I want to
say thank you for _______ (operating such a great business,
always giving me a smile, teaching me to ______, always
being on time, etc. -- something specific.)
Why do this? First of all, they deserve it. Secondly, it
will make their entire holiday and they just might spread
some of that gratitude around to some other people
themselves (you've heard of the ripple effect, right? How
many gratitude ripples can you get going?) And thirdly, the
biggest beneficiary will be YOU. Until you do it, you won't
believe how great it makes YOU feel, to make someone else
feel good about themselves.
In fact, as you know, the best way to feel more of your
own self-worth is to make OTHER people realize their
importance. Just as you cannot make yourself feel better by
tearing someone else down, which ultimately only damages
yourself, the opposite works to increase your self-esteem.
Cool, huh? You go around acknowledging the good in other
people, making them feel good about themselves and YOU reap
the biggest benefit.
Our Creator really set up a neat deal for us down here,
didn't He? By the way, you might want to put Him high on
your list of those that deserve thanks. It'd be pretty hard
to do this deal without the air, water, sunshine, the
spinning planet and all the rest, ya think?
Then there are those that have loved you or have created
a space to have you be loving to them. How have they made
you feel? What contributions have they made to how you have
grown over the past couple of years? What do they mean to
you? TELL THEM. Look deeply into their eyes and share your
heart. Call them on the phone, send them a card or write
them a letter. This will increase your capacity to love and
be loved by compounded measure. This IS what life is about,
and Thanksgiving gives you the perfect occasion to live your
fullest. To live and express -- LOVE.
I encourage you to make a point to acknowledge ten people
specifically; tell them why you appreciate them between now
and the end of Thanksgiving Day. It will make your holiday,
and theirs, extra special.
Having said that, I decided to write these thoughts on
Thanksgiving because when I made my list of all those I am
thankful for -- YOU came up. (You and the entire SuccessChat
subscriber base.)
For what you have encouraged, challenged, prompted and
supported me to do, and all that that has enriched me and
helped me become a better man -- I THANK YOU.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you and to your family,
With Love, Darren Hardy

The Attitude of Gratitude by Dr. Bill Nieporte
In Africa there is a certain berry that's name is
translated into English as the "thank-berry."
Why such an unusual name? It is because of the rich sweet
taste of the berry. As it is described, the taste of this
berry is so over-powering that once eaten everything else
that is tasted for the next several hours tastes extremely
SWEET. Even the most bitter fruit or herb tastes sweet when
eaten after the "thank-berry."
For the African tribe that grows this delicacy, the name
is appropriate because it influences the taste-buds the same
why gratitude influences a person's life. If a person learns
to cultivate an attitude of gratitude in their lives,
everything about life will seem a good bit sweeter.
What a wonderful thought to carry into the holiday
season--and into Y2K! Wouldn't your lives be sweeter if you
would cultivate an attitude of gratitude into your daily
life?
But how would we cultivate such an attitude? I suggest
several thankful actions.
1) COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS
A husband and wife were sitting in church as another
couple presented a memorial gift to the congregation in
honor of their son that had died at war. In the back a lady
nudged her husband, saying "We ought to do the same for our
son!"
"But our son is still alive!" the father replied!
"Exactly!" said the mother!
What blessings are there in your life?
2) VOICE YOUR THANKS
Don't take thanksgiving for granted! (I am not talking
about the holiday -- but the lifestyle!) Take the time today
-- right now if you can -- to express your gratitude to
those who bless your life. Speak to you spouse, your
parents, your children -- and tell them you love them.
Express your praise to God for the rich blessings that have
touched your life. Don't just think your thanks--say it!
3) DEVELOP AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE
It is not as difficult as it sounds.
If you count your blessings each day--and express you
gratitude to those who bring good things into your life,
life will change for your--drastically and for the better.
Taste the "thank-berry" and life will seem so much
sweeter!

I am endeared to Jim Rohn from just listening to him on
the Success Channel. I admire him and there is no one on
earth I would rather emulate than him because of his deep
philosophies on life and his obvious love of life and his
fellow man. -- Patricia A. Caparo, Pre-paid Legal Services
I don't need you to do anything for me, I want to do
something for you: tell you how awesome I think your
newsletter is! I consider Jim Rohn one of my top mentors and
when I discovered the website I was thrilled. But this
e-zine is OVER THE TOP! It is so chock-full of quality stuff
that I can honestly say - it is the only internet newsletter
that I subscribe to. I read it completely and gain
tremendous insight from it. I also am constantly sharing it
with friends. Congratulations on truly using the net in one
of the most quality ways I have ever seen. I will continue
to support Jim with all my enthusiasm! Thank you, --
Clifford Ball
Jim Rohn is my favourite inspiration speaker who speaks
to the individual. As a successful Realtor, I was introduced
to his philosophies and writings 20 years ago and was
privileged to attend a recent seminar in Anaheim. Now as a
PPL Associate and business owner, I am delighted to discover
him all over again. Thanks. -- Bridget K. Maley Bkm, Global
Business Solutions
In the past I attended a seminar that Jim held in
Portland, OR. and I have been a fan ever since. At that time
I purchased tapes and books. I only recently learned that
Jim was online via Darren Robert's ezine and I was thrilled
as I feel that Jim is very special and the best
'motivational' speaker of all time. I plan on having a
recommended 'links' page on my site and had planned on
featuring Jim anyway, so this is a natural for me. I will be
online with my website very shortly, so please include me in
your affiliate program. -- Myra L. Totten
I am now 33 and a regular e-zine reader and I think Jim
Rohn is simply outstanding. Wish I had started on this
journey 10 years ago! I have his entire works and it forms
the center piece of my Library along with Tony Robbins
(Jim's best student), Napoleon Hill, Brian Tracy, Zig
Ziglar.... etc. The work that touched me most is
"Cultivating an Unshakable Character" by Jim Rohn and I
truly believe that this forms the foundation of any self
development journey. This work is one the greatest gifts we
can give our children. I have recommended Jim's works to so
many friends.
In this specific E -Zine I read that one or two of the
readers are struggling with their businesses and are
searching for a mentor. I think they should look at Michael
Gerber's E-Myth Academy, which assists small businesses to
become extraordinary. Please ask them to go to:
http://www.emyth.com and it should help them in their search
for a more abundant life. Thank you, Jim. -- Sajith Unni
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Good Morning! Do you know if Jim is scheduled for any
Denver area appearances in the near future? I would really
love to have my sales team attend one of his talks. Jim is
the man!! Thanks, -- Mario
Thank you, E-zine readers, for the sincere and kind words
of encouragement and appreciation! -- JRI
"Asking is the beginning of receiving. Make sure you
don't go to the ocean with a teaspoon. At least take a
bucket so the kids won't laugh at you." Jim Rohn
