Welcome to all our new subscribers! Today's issue is going out to 60,723 weekly subscribers. Please feel free to forward
this issue to friends, family and associates! We thank you for reading and for passing along this information. :-)
"The event of a lifetime", "Under promised and over delivered", "The two most packed days I have ever experienced"... These were some of the hundreds of comments we received from this past week's Jim Rohn Weekend Event - Excelling in the New Millennium. Over 1,000 people from around the world gathered in a sold-out ballroom to hear Jim Rohn and guests share strategies and ideas to help change and improve lives. It was an event to remember.
Because we are still reeling from this historic event and trying to tie up loose ends, this week's edition of the E-zine includes a few housekeeping notes and a testimonial and recap from one of our Platinum attendees.
Housekeeping Notes:
Yours truly, Kyle Wilson (publisher of E-zine and the Two-Day event promoter) will be taking a much needed and planned vacation for 10 days. So there will not be an E-zine issue the next two weeks. Look for some excerpts from the event to start coming in the E-zine when we resume July 17.
Many have asked if and when DVD's, signed and numbered journals and event workbooks might be available to purchase. The journals and workbooks should be up and available on the website by the end of the week. DVD's of the event should be available in October. And by the way - we also have 4 new Jim Rohn audio series on CD now - Art of Exceptional Living, Take Charge of Your Life, Cultivating an Unshakable Character and the Power of Ambition. Go to www.jimrohn.com or call 800-929-0434.
Below are some powerful observations from event attendee - Dr. Louis Cady. Enjoy, I hope they are beneficial to you. Make it a great week!! KW
The Jim Rohn two day seminar I attended in Dallas was another of those life-changing experiences I have had, after having listened to both Jim and Zig in the past. I was stunned to receive the amount of information, new ideas, attitude and skill adjustments that I encountered. The caliber of people I met in the Platinum mastermind group was phenomenal, as was the diverse geographical distribution of the people who assembled in Dallas for this event - from Scotland, Thailand, Germany - basically all over the world.
From my previous exposure to Mr. Rohn and his material, I had already started crafting the type of life I wanted to lead, one where my patients and I (I´m a psychiatrist) can enjoy a wonderful, personal relationship absent the bungling interference of managed care; a life where more and more speaking and writing opportunities have started opening up.
Since being at the first Rohn seminar I attended in Chicago in 1996, I have finished one book, outlined several more, become a local columnist for my business newspaper, grown my practice to the point that I have no more room for new patients except six months into the future, and dramatically expanded my speaking business. I have also been able to identify some issues in my family life that needed changing.
Still, I needed a "booster" - a "check up from the neck up" as Zig would say.
Several things about the Dallas seminar stood out in my mind:
The new concept, which Mr. Rohn personally noted he had never considered before, about the very small distance it was to journey from where you are to starting out on a new path. The end destination may be remarkably different, the route may be different, but the actual distance between where you are now and where you need to be to get started on a different path is remarkably small. Had I not been here, I would not have gotten that bit of wisdom.
I was fascinated that, in the Platinum mastermind session on Sunday, the first topic which came up was "THE LIBRARY" - what books people had read which they found the most helpful and life-changing. In a way, this was a reverberation of a theme, loudly, humorously, and compellingly presented by Charlie "Tremendous" Jones over the two previous days that you will be the same person 10 years from now except for the people you meet and the books you read. How interesting that in our ultra-techy high speed, instant-access internet world in which we live, the BASICS keep coming back: putting our rears in a chair, opening a book, and opening our mind for some new ideas.
One couple I met told me that the first priority they had when the built their new home was BUILT IN BOOKSHELVES FOR THEIR LIBRARY. The discussion on books and libraries went almost 30 - 40 minutes. The "place of honor" that it had, at the very first item on the mastermind agenda was not, I believe, accidental. I wrote down a number of books which I am absolutely going to get read, and then place in my library. I also resolved to buy more books and give more away (not gutting my OWN library, but getting books I´ve read, own, and enjoy so that I can give extra copies away). The Ultimate Gift, by Jim Stovall, recommended by Charlie Jones, is definitely one that I will be buying in quantity to give away to some of my teenage patients.
I was also fascinated that it was possible, in the Mastermind session on Sunday, for Christians, Muslims, and Jews to all engage in a discussion about the importance of spirituality, keep an excellent sense of humor, and not engage in condemning or hostile behavior. It seemed to me that the more "refined" the group, the more respectful of other opinions and beliefs that could be observed. It was a wonderful, uplifting, and very positive experience for me.
Many of the "Rohn-isms" with which I had been familiar came back to reverberate in my consciousness:
- "Life was not designed to give us what we need, but what we deserve."
- "Only those who KNOCK deserve to find an open door."
- After hearing Jim talk, one more time, about Mortimer Adler's book, I resolved, this time, that I was at least going to skim and get the high points from How to Read a Book, something which I started to do in the past but never did. Based on what I've seen in this book already, it will drastically cut down on the time required to master the contents of a book and get the information out of the book and into my head. In my professional and speaking career, this will be of invaluable assistance to me, because I live in an almost constant state of "information overload." I believe this will greatly assist me.
The psychological energy of the assembled group was incredible.
The presence of teenagers, several of whom told me that they were refining their goals programs, was wonderful and inspiring. These teens, whose parents loved, respected, and cherished them enough to bring them to the seminar were wholesome, remarkably self-assured for their age, and had their own unique "testimonials" in terms of living the principles espoused by Mr. Rohn and the other speakers. It was not only a pleasure to have the opportunity to visit with a couple of them, but a delight to see the special place of honor given to them on Friday afternoon in a special session designed just for them.
You may be sure that at the next seminar, when my oldest soon will be old enough to benefit from the material, I WILL BE BRINGING HIM and his JOURNAL!!
The immediate steps I have already taken since leaving the seminar include transcribing my notes, recommitting to my goals programs (which I totally reworked during the seminar), and recommitting to the discipline of "the journal." I bought some CD´s, tapes, and books which I can hardly wait to get to.
You might be interested to know that ever since I registered for this event, four months ago, I have been counting down the months, the weeks, and then the days until I had the chance to be taught by Mr. Rohn once again, as well as the masterful group of speakers (Zig Ziglar, Bob Burg, Charlie "Tremendous" Jones, Jan Ruhe, William E. Bailey, Jeffrey Gitomer, John Hayes) that were brought together. Tony Jeary, "Mr. Presentation" did a masterful job of coordinating the speakers and introducing them, and gave one of the most content rich, info-packed presentations on speaking I´ve ever heard over breakfast. The handout and the information I took away are priceless.
I told another person in the platinum group that if I had had to pay $10,000 to attend and experience what I did and the people I met, it would have been a bargain.
Thank you for your part in making it happen and being the "mastermind behind the mastermind."
You, the speakers, and your staff were extraordinary.
Thanks for everything you did to make this, for me, personally, an incredible, life-changing weekend.
