1. Being Fruitful by Jim Rohn
(excerpted from the New Jim Rohn Weekend Event DVD/CD series)

Over the years I've learned to challenge my audiences to turn their response to the ideas and information they receive into results. According to the Biblical story, the first couple, Adam and Eve, was instructed to be fruitful - produce some results. Fruitful is kind of an interesting word; it denotes abundance. Here's what I think fruitful, abundance and productivity mean - to go to work on producing more than you need for yourself. I think we fulfill that command given to us so long ago to be productive, to produce far more than we need for ourselves, by blessing others, blessing our nation and blessing our enterprise.

Challenge yourself to produce more ideas than you need for yourself so you can share and give your ideas away. Produce more in terms of substance and money and treasure and all things valuable to human beings, far more than you need for yourself. I am reminded of R.G. LeTourneau's story, the man who built the big earth moving machines; it was his goal to someday give away 90% of his income. Giving away far more than anyone could possibly imagine. 90% is an awful lot to give away, but you should have seen the 10% that was left. Once abundance starts to come, once someone becomes incredibly productive, it's amazing what the numbers turn out to be. It's amazing what it finally totals. So make sure when you are given the opportunity, that you turn your response into results, thus the chance to be more fruitful and more giving.

To Your Success,
Jim Rohn

2. Vitamins for the Mind by Jim Rohn

Career/Marketplace by Jim Rohn

My father taught me to always do more than you get paid for as an investment in your future.

Whether you stay six weeks, six months or six years, always leave it better than you found it.

Don't bring your need to the marketplace, bring your skill. If you don't feel well, tell your doctor, but not the marketplace. If you need money, go to the bank, but not the marketplace.

If you make a sale, you can make a living. If you make an investment of time and good service in a customer, you can make a fortune.

Don't just let your business or your job make something for you; let it make something of you.

Lack of homework shows up in the marketplace as well as in the classroom.

Where you start in the marketplace is not where you have to stay.

The worst days of those who enjoy what they do are better than the best days of those who don't.

We get paid for bringing value to the marketplace. It takes time to bring value to the marketplace, but we get paid for the value, not the time.

Here's the major problem with going on strike for more money: You cannot get rich by demand.

3. Use What You've Already Got by Mark Victor Hansen

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a brilliant man born with a God-given talent. He was composing at age five and performing before royalty by the time he was six years old. Early on, Mozart realized what his talents were, practiced and honed what he was born to do and used his natural abilities to create amazing pieces of music.

Mozart was not the first to be born with natural talents and he wasn´t the last. We all have them - all of us. We only need to discover what they are and use them to the best of our abilities. You have been given amazing gifts that are meant to be shared with the world. Your job is to find out what those talents are and master them. When you focus most of your time and energy on your natural talents, you will find that you reap phenomenal rewards.

Celebrating our natural talents should be an easy task. But for many people it´s emotionally exhausting. Why? Because a lot of folks fight their natural talents for one reason or another. Perhaps their parents wouldn´t approve of their artistic ability to paint or sculpt, because they want them to be a successful doctor or lawyer. Maybe someone´s gift wouldn´t seem to have the ability to bring the kind of wealth they desire. Sometimes people are simply afraid to pursue something that seems to come so easily to them – shouldn´t success be difficult? No, it shouldn´t and it isn´t.

These are all excuses. And all the excuses in the world won´t destroy talent. It will be there, waiting for us to fight through fear and “what ifs’ until we realize what we should have been doing our entire lives. We have been given natural talents for a reason – to use them to the betterment of the planet and those who inhabit it.

Have you ever noticed that when you engage in an activity in which you are naturally talented, you feel energized, excited and optimistic? That´s a sign that these are the things you should be focusing upon. For example, when I stand in front of an auditorium filled with thousands of people, and speak to them about fulfilling their dreams, my body is filled with energy – so much that I´m practically buzzing all over. I´m so excited I can hardly stand still.

Your job is to find out what makes you buzz and begin to perfect it. Discover your brilliance in life (see “This Week´s Action Step’ below) and practice, practice, practice. You must hone your natural abilities to perfect them – concentrate on your strengths, not your weaknesses. Look at the world´s greatest athletes. They practice what they´re naturally good at – and what they love to do – every day. You don´t see Michael Jordan sitting around trying to decipher a strand of DNA. If that was something he was talented at that´s what he would be doing. But it´s not. He´s a brilliant athlete and businessman. He sticks to what he does best and has reaped astounding rewards because of it.

There are only two steps to success – discover your brilliance and perfect it. Doing this will allow you to receive the wealth you truly deserve.

'The only waste of human resources is letting them go unused.'

4. Conquer Fear!

If FEAR is an obstacle in your life, you will want to read this.

This is a great opportunity to experience a major breakthrough against what's been holding you back.

There's also a special bonus for Preferred Subscribers of the Jim Rohn Ezine.

Read the following from Vic Johnson and decide if you're ready for your breakthrough.  But hurry, this chance to CONQUER
FEAR starts next week!

I was a 19-year-old tough-guy football player who appeared as if nothing in the world scared me. I was a student in a
communications class in my sophomore year of college that required a five-minute speech in front of the class as the final
exam. As the date neared my anxiety and agony grew. Like 75% of people who report having a fear of public speaking, I was filled with terror at the thought of having to stand up and speak in front of everyone.

On exam day I was greatly surprised (and somewhat relieved) that I woke up with a terrible head cold and a hoarseness that would make it impossible to make my speech. I conveniently stayed in the dorm that morning, glad to be off the hook for the moment. Amazingly, the next day I had no symptoms at all of the previous days illness. There´s no question that I was really sick on exam day and there´s also no question that I was really well the day after I had "avoided the bullet."  I gave no thought at all to the "miracle recovery," but I realized many years later that my FEAR had literally made me sick.

I ended up doing my speech in front of just the professor one day after class, and at the time I was quite pleased because I felt it had gone well. Interestingly, I made a B on it.

Even more interesting, now that 30 years have passed, I can´t tell you how many speeches I´ve done -- they´re too numerous to count. From crowds as small as 5 to crowds over 5,000. I once was the featured "roaster" on the days with then Presidential contender Gary Hart, a Governor, State Insurance Commissioner and Major University President. In the end, I got the largest applause of them all.

Fortunate for me that day, the crowd could only see me from the waist up, because from the waist down my legs were a trembling mess. I still hadn´t gotten over my fear of speaking, and to this day, I still haven´t.

So what happened that allowed me to speak anyway, in spite of the fear? Plain and simple, I learned how to manage it!

Every successful person operates with some level of fear at different times. That´s the way God wired us - it´s meant to be a good thing - to be a warning system. But until we learn how to manage it, it´s not a warning system, it´s a slave master, holding it´s victims in inescapable bondage.

Have you ever felt the grip of fear? Like the feeling you get when you´re already short of funds for the month and an unexpected bill arrives...the fear of rejection you feel before you pick up the phone to make certain calls...the fear of speaking up in a meeting when you know you´ve got the solution to the problem?

Has the fear of failure (or the fear of success) kept you from starting that business you´ve always wanted...or writing the book that you know is inside of you?

A year ago I was excited to introduce Lisa Jimenez´s great book, Conquer Fear, because I knew that a lot of people would be helped by Lisa´s message. But I had no idea just how popular it would be, quickly becoming our number one seller. One of the early readers, Dr. Beverly Kurtin sent me the most memorable email I´ve ever received from a subscriber. Beverly wrote in part, "This book is drilling down into the pulp where the blood really flows. It hurts like the dickens, but she's telling us the truth in a way that I've never seen before. She keeps reaching out of the book and slapping me on the face...HARD. And that´s the kind of response I´ve had from reader after reader. There´s no question that Lisa understands fear and she understands what it takes to manage it.

So I´m even more exited now to introduce you to a special Conquer Fear Tele-Seminar featuring none other than Lisa Jimenez. In this tele-seminar Lisa will teach you how to:

* Identify and eliminate self-limiting beliefs
* Overcome hidden fears
* Stop procrastination and self-sabotage
* Reject rejection with the L.O.A. (Law of Average)
* Break through negative programming
* Raise your self-esteem and confidence level
* Create momentum to stay motivated
* Increase your bottom line

Can you learn how to manage fear?

You bet! Fear is a learned behavior which, therefore, can be unlearned. We are only born with two fears - the fear of loud noise and the fear of falling. Every other fear you have has been learned.

I´ve seen the seminar curriculum and workbook that Lisa has put together and if you think the book was powerful, wait until you experience this seminar.

At the end of four weeks you´re going to be armed like never before in your battle against fear.

5. Frequently Asked Questions

Each week or so we take a specific or frequently asked question to or about Jim Rohn and provide the answer.

Q: I have a problem with being very timid (I think). In your article on skillful leadership you say that timidity can be overcome. How do I overcome this. It has caused me to stay in a low paying job for 15 years. I have a daughter that has the same problem. We think about everyone else but ourselves. I want to overcome this and move forward, go back to school (maybe get a better paying job). How do we overcome this problem?
-- DC

A: You are right - timidity can be overcome and you've made the first step in conquering it. The first step is recognizing that you have that challenge. You and your daughter have both identified that you have a challenge with this in your life.

The second step would be to decide what you want (be very specific when looking at the different areas of your life). I would suggest that you start with only one area - don't overwhelm yourself because if you do you won't be compelled to take action. Shakespeare says, "To thine own self be true" and a key question would be, "who are you more loyal to? Yourself or to others? Now I'm not saying that you should become selfish in your approach to life, but I don't think that will be a challenge for you. Think about it this way, when you are traveling on an airplane and the flight attendants walk you through the emergency procedures - specifically the oxygen mask... The procedure is to FIRST secure your own mask and THEN and ONLY THEN help those with you secure their masks. Why is that? Because, if you don't help yourself first (take care of yourself) then you can't effectively care for someone else.

The same is true for you - you've got to decide what is important to you and begin to live out of those convictions. But break it down into "baby steps". What little thing can you do today to begin to gain ground and to shove timidity into the smallest corner of your life so that it no longer has power over you? Ask yourself each morning, what one thing can I do today that will make progress towards what you want to be and do? Don't try to tackle the whole thing all at once, just chip away at it day-by-day, baby step by baby step. And remember, if you fail in a moment of weakness, then you get to start over again in the very next second. John Maxwell talks about failing forward - he says to look at failure as forward motion toward your goals - interesting paradigm shift isn't it?

The next step is to Step Out - take action - it doesn't matter how small the step is, it just matters that you take that step - act on your decision to overcome timidity, make small, steady progress to overcome and then to conquer. Baby steps become toddler steps and then steady steps until you are running with complete confidence.

We wish you complete success in conquering the challenge of timidity and moving beyond it to accomplish your dreams and goals. As always, I hope this helps! JR
