1. Today is Yesterday's Tomorrow by Jim Rohn
The problem with waiting until tomorrow is that when it finally arrives, it is called today. Today is yesterday's tomorrow. The question is what did we do with its opportunity? All too often we will waste tomorrow as we wasted yesterday, and as we are wasting today. All that could have been accomplished can easily elude us, despite our intentions, until we inevitably discover that the things that might have been have slipped from our embrace a single, unused day at a time.
Each of us must pause frequently to remind ourselves that the clock is ticking. The same clock that began to tick from the moment we drew our first breath will also someday cease.
Time is the great equalizer of all mankind. It has taken away the best and the worst of us without regard for either. Time offers opportunity but demands a sense of urgency.
When the game of life is finally over, there is no second chance to correct our errors. The clock that is ticking away the moments of our lives does not care about winners and losers. It does not care about who succeeds or who fails. It does not care about excuses, fairness or equality. The only essential issue is how we played the game.
Regardless of a person's current age, there is a sense of urgency that should drive them into action now - this very moment. We should be constantly aware of the value of each and every moment of our lives - moments that seem so insignificant that their loss often goes unnoticed.
We still have all the time we need. We still have lots of chances - lots of opportunities - lots of years to show what we can do. For most of us, there will be a tomorrow, a next week, a next month, and a next year. But unless we develop a sense of urgency, those brief windows of time will be sadly wasted, as were the weeks and months and years before them. There isn't an endless supply!
So as you think of your dreams and goals of your future tomorrow, begin today to take those very important first steps to making them all come to life.

Our emotions need to be as educated as our intellect. It is important to know how to feel, how to respond, and how to let life in so that it can touch you.

3. Attitude Versus Aptitude by Brian Tracy
Use the 80/20 Rule
The 80/20 rule is as applicable to individual salespeople as it is to a large sales force. Fully eighty percent of your success as a salesperson will be determined by your attitude and only twenty percent by your aptitude. Some people feel that attitude is ninety percent of success in all human endeavors involving other people, but we can quite comfortably use eighty percent as a figure for the purposes of this article.
Develop a Positive Attitude
A positive mental attitude, or a constructive and optimistic way of looking at yourself and your work, goes hand in hand with sales success in every field and in every market. The development of this unshakable attitude of cheerfulness and enthusiasm is your springboard to greatness as a salesperson, no matter what is going on around you.
Learn Your Product Well
The twenty percent of sales effectiveness that comes from product knowledge and professional selling skills is terribly important as well. It is only when you are thoroughly knowledgeable about what you are selling and thoroughly skillful in your ability to present it effectively that you develop the calmness and confidence upon which a positive mental attitude depends.
Upgrade the Quality of Your Thinking
The quality of your thinking determines the quality of your life. If you improve the quality of your thinking, in any area, you improve the quality of your life in that area. By using your mind, your ability to think, you become a creator of circumstances rather than a creature of circumstances. You move from being powerless to being powerful. You determine everything that happens to you by the way you think about it, in advance. You may not be what you think you are, but what you think, you are!
Change Your Inner Attitudes of Mind
The most rapid and positive changes in your personality and your sales results come about when you change your thinking about yourself and your possibilities. When you reprogram your subconscious mind so you feel a sense of unshakable optimism and self-confidence, every part of your life begins improving immediately. As William James of Harvard wrote in 1905, The greatest revolution of my generation is the discovery that individuals, by changing their inner attitudes of mind, can change the outer aspects of their lives.’
Expect the Best
The very best salespeople have an attitude of calm, confident, positive self-expectation. They feel good about themselves and they have absolute faith that everything they are doing is contributing toward their inevitable success. They are cool, relaxed, happy and cheerful about their lives and their careers. They know, deep in their hearts, that they are good at what they do, and their customers know it as well. Often, their customers decide to buy from them even before they've made a sales presentation or described their product or service. They are the champions, or superstars, of selling everywhere, and you can be one of them by developing the same attitudes and attributes that they have.
Action Exercises
Here are two things you can do immediately to put these ideas into action:
First, resolve today to develop and cultivate an attitude of calm, confident, positive expectations towards yourself, your customers and your career. Expect the best!
Second, take complete control of your thinking and concentrate on the solution rather than the problem. Look for the good in every situation. Be positive and cheerful, no matter what happens.

So Jim Rohn wants to be in our testimonials, does he? Does he deserve to? Not sure if this counts, but the week I got the first package by mail and the first e-mails was the week that I finally sat down at my laptop and got out 15,000 words of a book that I have been promising myself to start writing for the past 6 months. Without the package, I would still be leaning against the kitchen counter drinking coffee and dreaming of writing. Yes, I'll carry on writing it as I now think about it every day and get notes down instead of thinking about making notes sometime later. I bought the One-Year Success course (though I can ill afford it) in order to deliver myself the proverbial "kick in the butt" as I detected that I was drowning not in drink but in lazy bad habits and excuses and unsorted paperwork - not a good idea for a freelance editor. My income had slumped in inverse proportion to the car repairs and dental work that suddenly needed doing. The first month is proving most valuable - had a lot of catching up to do in 3 weeks, especially as my workload suddenly picked up. But I think I've finally managed to give up watching TV progs till late at night. A big time saver... So being punctual for every meeting and event is my next major task. Jim's advice is sound, and I thoroughly enjoy the library of books that came along too. So here's a toast to the day that Jim Rohn met Earl Shoaff! Three cheers!

Dear Jim Rohn Team: I really apologize for not having send this Contract on time. As you well see I was a lot behind my reading of the programs but I can tell you that my first Goal I made the due date. My delay was due to the following: I was positively distracted by reading As a Man Thinketh and Think and Grow Rich from Napoleon Hill, doing all the tips he advises to do which were similar with the one we were dealing with on weeks 7 to 9... I believe these readings have been helpful for setting my dreams in a better achievable way. I want to become the Project Manager of my life. I accomplished it once when I was only 15 years old and I can do it again! I even bought a small notebook to write my dreams and goals and keep it on my daily purse so I can take a look at them every time I feel not getting there! Thanks and regards.
