The Day That Turns Your Life Around

Jim Rohn

    WEEKLY WISDOM

“If you don't like how things are, change it! You're not a tree.”
    — Jim Rohn

My friend, I've been thinking about trees lately. They're magnificent, aren't they? Strong roots, reaching branches, standing tall through every season. But here's the thing about trees—they can't move. Where they're planted is where they stay.

You and I? We're not trees.

If you don't like where you are in life right now—your finances, your relationships, your health, your career—you have something a tree will never have. The power to change your location. The power to change your direction. The power to say, "Enough. Today is different."

Here's what I know: most people treat their circumstances like they're permanent. They say things like, "That's just how it is" or "I've always been this way." But those aren't facts, my friend. Those are choices dressed up as fate. The day you realize you have legs—that you can walk away from what isn't working and walk toward what could be—that's the day everything shifts. Not because life suddenly gets easier, but because you suddenly get different. And different is where all the magic begins.

Right Now

Here we are at the start of June—a new month, a new week, and summer stretching out before us with the longest days of the year. If there was ever a moment designed for a turning point, this is it. You've got daylight to spare, energy building, and a fresh page on the calendar. The question isn't whether the opportunity exists. The question is: Will you take it?

A Story

    The Day of Resolve

Jim's teaching about the four emotions that can change your life: disgust with mediocrity, decision to change, desire for something better, and resolve to follow through no matter what.

Take out a journal or a blank piece of paper. Give yourself twenty minutes and honestly answer these four questions:
  1. Disgust: What in my life am I finally fed up with? What situation, habit, or result has become intolerable?

  2. Decision: What am I committing to change—not hoping to change, but deciding to change starting today?

  3. Desire: What do I truly want my life to look like? What pulls me forward?

  4. Resolve: What promise will I make to myself, knowing obstacles will come? How will I respond when it gets hard?
