The Art of Setting Goals

The Art of Setting Goals

Most people don't have goals. They have wishes. They have hopes. But they don't have written, specific goals.

The Purpose of a Goal

The major reason for setting a goal is for what it makes of you to accomplish it.

  • The Value: The greatest value in life is not what you get. The greatest value in life is what you become.
  • The Question: If you want to be a millionaire, the question isn't "what will I do with the money?" The question is "what kind of person will I have to become to attract that kind of money?"
  • How to Set Goals

    1. **Decide What You Want**: Be specific. How much? By when? What exactly?

    2. **Write It Down**: A goal that is not written down is just a wish.

    3. **Read It Often**: Keep your goals in front of you.

    Two Types of Goals

    1. **Long Range**: Your dreams, your life vision.

    2. **Short Range**: The confidence builders. The daily and weekly victories that prove you can achieve.

"Set a goal to become a millionaire for what it makes of you to achieve it. Do it for the skills you have to learn and the person you have to become." — Jim Rohn
